Cosmetic Teeth Brightening
All clients are advised to complete a minimum of 2 sessions for the best results. Clients with heavier or long-standing staining (for example from smoking, coffee, tea, red wine, or age-related staining) may require 3 sessions for optimal brightness.
Sessions should be spaced approximately 2–3 weeks apart.
We offer discounted packages for 2 or 3 sessions, providing better value than single bookings. If you are unable to return for a second session, we recommend booking our 90-minute whitening session for the best possible one-off result.
We use gels suitable for sensitive teeth to minimise sensitivity. A desensitising gel can also be applied if required. If any irritation occurs, brushing with a sensitive toothpaste (such as Sensodyne) is recommended.
• Avoid strongly staining foods and drinks (such as coffee, tea, red wine, curry, berries, and fizzy drinks) for 12–24 hours prior to treatment
• Do not attend your appointment with lipstick or heavy lip products
Focus on white or light-coloured foods and drinks, such as:
• Water (still or sparkling) • Milk, milkshakes, or white hot chocolate • White or light-coloured protein: chicken, turkey, white fish, eggs • Grains and carbs: white rice, pasta, plain noodles, white bread, crackers, couscous • Potatoes (boiled, mashed, or roasted without dark sauces) • Dairy: cheese, plain yoghurt, cream, butter • Light soups: cream-based soups (without tomato or dark spices) • Light fruits: bananas, peeled apples, pears • Herbs & seasonings: salt, pepper, mild spices (avoid dark sauces)
Foods & Drinks to AVOID:
Anything dark or strongly coloured can stain your teeth while they are sensitive, including:
• Coffee, tea, and herbal teas with colour • Red, black, or green wine • Fizzy or coloured soft drinks (stick to water) • Berries: strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries • Tomato-based sauces, pasta sauces, ketchup • Pesto (green) or soy sauce • Dark vegetables: spinach, beetroot, red cabbage, kale • Dark chocolate or sweets • Curry, chili, or strongly coloured spices • Citrus fruits in large amounts (may irritate sensitivity) • Smoking or vaping
⚠ Important: Consuming dark or strongly coloured foods and drinks during the first 48–72 hours can cause your teeth to return to their original shade, undoing the results of your treatment.
Tips for Maintaining Results:
• Brush your teeth gently after meals using a sensitive toothpaste if needed • Drink plenty of water to rinse away any staining particles • Avoid staining foods and drinks as much as possible in the days following your session for longer-lasting results
• Anyone under 18 years of age • Pregnant or breastfeeding clients • Clients with epilepsy
Important: If you have recently visited a dental hygienist, we recommend waiting up to 4 weeks before your whitening session to reduce sensitivity.
To maintain your bright smile, we recommend a single 60-minute top-up session approximately 3–8 months after your initial course. This helps refresh your results and keep your teeth looking their brightest.
However, many clients notice that it does appear brighter and more harmonious after whitening. This happens because the surrounding natural teeth are lightened, which improves the overall appearance of the smile.
Fillings: Teeth whitening works on natural teeth only. Fillings do not chemically change colour.
However, many clients notice that their fillings appear more harmonious after whitening, because the surrounding natural teeth are lightened, giving a brighter, more balanced smile.
